IBRAHIM ADAMU YAKASAI, mni Retired Colonel-Nigerian Army-FSS, MSS is the Provost College of Health Sciences, Bayero University, Kano. He is the current Chairman Committee of Provosts Colleges of Medicine in Nigeria as well as Governing Council Member, Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo Benue State.

He served in the Nigerian Army in various command positions and distinguished himself before retiring as a Colone, decorated with FSS, MSS (force services star and meritorious service star).

He is an indigene of Kano City and obtained MBBS at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and later won a scholarship by the European Economic Commission to do his postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom where, he obtained a Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and also a Fellow of the same prestigious College.

Colonel Yakasai obtained a Masters in Medical Education at the University of Winchester and subsequently went to the USA to do the Fellowship of international College of Surgeons, FICS (USA) and Fellowship of American College of Surgeons.

He also served as the Director General Hospitals Management Board Kano State with an impeccable achievements and track record that had significantly reduced the maternal mortality rate in the state and improved the abysmal health indices in the ground having established residency programme with over 70 residents trained.

His previous appointments in the university includes; head of Department, of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and Dean Faculty of Clinical Sciences, and now Provost College of Health Sciences. Yakasai's zeal to improve medical education has currently put him in the National Universities Commission committee on the review of medical curriculum for undergraduate and PhD for medical doctors. He examines in both medical undergraduate and postgraduate exams of the Nigeria, West African and the UK.

Professor Yakasai joined Bayero University Kano Faculty of Medicine 2003, promoted Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2012. He went to National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies Kuru (NIPPS) SEC 41 in 2019 and obtained the prestigious award of Member of the National Institute (mni).

His administrative experience started right from medical school as the class representative and member of the students' representative assembly ABU Zaria., member of board of various Teaching Hospitals, including Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano. MDCN, Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Faculty Board of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Chairman of Health Services Committee. His direct contribution to research include over eighty original articles published in peer reviewed journals and or presented at academic/professional conferences.
